Carnaval:
Welcome to the largest street party in the world! Brazil's third
largest city swells from two million residents to five million
revelers. Carnaval in Salvador allows YOU to dance in the streets with
Brazil's hottest musical bands.
"Foreigners may flock to Rio de Janeiro, but savvy Brazilians like to
argue that the best place in their country to spend the Southern
Hemisphere summer is Salvador da Bahia." The world will be in Salvador,
how about you?
Boa Morte: Travel with us
as we visit the Bahian town of Cachoeira. Festival of the Boa Morte,
The Good Death, takes place each year, in August. A sisterhood of women
descended from African slaves, put on their finest ceremonial clothes
and jewelry to participate in three days of Masses, parades, public
feasts and dancing in honor of the Virgin Mary and the memory of slaves
who managed to become free during their lifetimes. |
